Ha! You're listening books? And you think you're reading them. Try have a real paper book and READ it. You'll see the difference and meaning when you are reading a book. It's like you told me you've read "War and Peace" by Tolstoi just watching the same movie!

I have to disagree! I love a good read, and can devour a paper book in a short time, but to listen to an audiobook, especially when read by the author, or a fantastic narrator, can actually make a story better! It's not like a movie, where parts are cut out, or your imagination is sidestepped by someone else's idea of how something should look. When read by the author, you're getting all the nuances and emphasis where it was intended, not just where my brain wants to put it. And in the case of stuff that's harder to read, like Shakespeare, to have it read fluently and properly by someone else can make something difficult to read extremely easy to understand. Listening to Patrick Stewart read a Christmas Carol was even more fun that watching a movie!

Plus, we all know that moms have almost no time to sit quietly with a paper book, so grabbing a chapter here and there in the car, or while waiting in the doctors office, makes it so much easier to get through that pile of "to read" that would otherwise go untouched!

I absolutely disagree, especially if the audiobook is narrated by its own author. Unabridged, an audiobook's words are the same as in the print edition - it's not at all like viewing a film interpretation of a book. Although I personally prefer reading print format, I know what it's like to have trouble finding time for it, and some very busy people prefer to listen to books while commuting or to keep their hands free for crafts, cooking, etc.
